Practical file sharing guide
Send a Large Video Without Reducing Its Quality
Estimate upload time, send the original video, and help the recipient handle playback and large downloads.

Send the selected file without converting it
JustSeconds uploads the file you choose. Its file uploader does not resize the picture, lower a video’s resolution, or re-encode its audio. If you select your original video export, the recipient downloads that selected file rather than a smaller version created by a video-conversion step.
Start by finding the actual export in your file manager. A copy downloaded from a conversation or social app may already differ from your camera original. Uploading that copy cannot recover information removed earlier. Check the file name, dimensions, duration, and size before sending.
Estimate the upload before you begin
Internet plans often emphasize download speed, but the sender’s upload speed determines how quickly the file leaves their device. To estimate the minimum transfer time, multiply the file’s size in gigabytes by 8,000 and divide by the upload speed in megabits per second. The result is seconds, using decimal units.
| Upload speed | Calculated minimum |
|---|---|
| 5 Mbps | 26 minutes 40 seconds |
| 10 Mbps | 13 minutes 20 seconds |
| 20 Mbps | 6 minutes 40 seconds |
| 50 Mbps | 2 minutes 40 seconds |
A 4 GB file takes about four times those figures at the same speed. Actual transfers can take longer because connections vary and data transfer has overhead. These are arithmetic estimates, not promised JustSeconds performance. Folder ZIP preparation is additional work before network upload begins.
Choose a file or a collection of clips
For one export, choose the file directly. For several clips from the same project, place only the intended files in a folder and package them as a ZIP, or use the desktop folder option. Already compressed video often becomes little smaller in a ZIP; the benefit is one organized delivery.
Guests can send a combined 5 GB during a rolling 24-hour window. Free registered accounts have a combined 50 GB allowance. Check your remaining allowance and log in before choosing a large registered transfer. A file being selected does not mean the service has accepted it or that its link is ready.
Complete the upload before sharing
- Open the uploader and log in first if you need registered options.
- Set any password and expiration, then choose the video file.
- Keep the tab active and the connection steady. On a phone, avoid locking the device or switching away for a long period.
- Wait for Your file is uploaded, then copy the link or save the QR code.
- Send the file name, size, and download deadline with the link.
The current uploader does not provide a user-controlled pause-and-resume workflow. If the browser closes or the connection fails, do not assume the next attempt resumes at the previous percentage. Keep your original until the recipient confirms receipt.
Help the recipient distinguish downloading from playback
The link opens a download page. A successful transfer does not guarantee that the recipient’s browser or device can play every format or codec. Ask them to download the file fully, then open it in an application that supports that video format.
If the recipient only needs a viewing copy and cannot play the original, you may choose to export a compatible version yourself and send it as a separate transfer. Keep the original when editing quality matters, and clearly label which export each link contains.
Plan for the download too
The recipient needs enough storage and a connection suitable for the file size. A multi-gigabyte download can be inconvenient on a phone using mobile data. For an editing project, downloading directly to the computer where it will be used can avoid a second device-to-device handoff.
Guest links last 7 days and registered links up to 30 days. Expiration cannot recall a video already saved by the recipient. If the deadline is missed, upload again and provide a fresh link rather than promising the old one can be extended.
